JBLE to celebrate military children

By Staff Sgt. Aubrey White 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

During April, the Month of the Military Child, the Department of Defense highlights the military community's youngest members for their bravery, support and contributions.

According to The National Child Traumatic Stress Network, nearly two million children, ages newborn to 18 years old, make up a significant part of the Armed Forces family, and their care sustains the nation's fighting force.

"The children of our Service members continue to make significant contributions to schools, communities, the nation and our Commonwealth, despite prolonged and repeated absences of one or both parents," Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced in his 2016 Month of the Military Child Proclamation. "Month of the Military Child reaffirms our commitment to ensuring excellence in schools, childcare and youth services to military children who face unique challenges that other children their age never experience."

This year, children of military members can participate in a multitude of events hosted by Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, agencies.
