Airmen learn to lead at their own ‘PACE’

By Airman 1st Class Kaylee Dubois 633 Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Approximately 124 U.S. Air Force Airmen attended the Profession of Arms Center of Excellence event lead by Col. Joseph Rizzuto, the director of PACE with the Air Education Training Command, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, May 3, 2016.

The all-day event, open to Airmen of all ranks, covered how to become an effective leader through demonstrating how unique backgrounds and experiences can create a more cohesive unit.

Although the event was hosted by the 30th Intelligence Squadron and geared towards intelligence professionals, the PACE course can be used as a training session for all career fields.

Rizzuto emphasized how core values, power differential, psychology and communication are pieces that must work together to generate effective leaders. Additionally, Airmen were led through discussion-based scenarios, reflective questions and real-life stories during the seminar.

"This event brings a unique leadership perspective to future leaders, new leaders and leaders who strive to learn more," said Tech. Sgt. Ryan Craig, high altitude noncommissioned officer in charge. "This event is not a normal Air Force course to take through our leadership professional military education."

Craig said the material covered throughout the course aims to not only create more effective leaders, but better people, friends and family members.
