ACE Airman Spotlight

By Airmen Committed to Excellence

Name: Senior Airman Katherine Vincent

Unit: 440 Supply Chain Operations Squadron

AFSC & Job Title: 2S0X1 - Materiel Management & Equipment Authorization Journeyman

Job description: Managing Equipment for the force.

Time in the military: 2 years and 8 months

Time on station: Almost 4 months

Hometown: Garden Valley, Idaho

Hobbies: Reading, Photography, Volleyball, Hiking, Camping and watching movies.

Why did you join the military?: Well on top of amazing benefits, such as

education and health care, I joined because I wanted to be a part of

something important and bigger than myself.

Where do you see yourself in 10 year or 20 years?: In 10 years, I see myself

commissioned as a nurse and hopefully a little closer to home or doing a

humanitarian mission to provide medical care to people in need.  In 20

years, I see myself being retired but still doing the humanitarian missions

and doing what makes me happy.

What is your favorite Air Force memory or story?: Learning about life and

other cultures from the other country nationals on my deployment.

What do you like most about Langley?: I really enjoy being in Virginia. I

like the proximity to the beach and the historical places I can visit.

Snippet from Senior Airman Vincent's nomination: (Provided by her supervisor, Staff Sgt. William Crew)

"Senior Airman Vincent has been an asset to Grounds Equipment Flight.  She is responsible for three bases, two of which are critical to homeland security and NATO missions.  She manages 10,600 equipment details totaling $22,700 assets with an on-hand worth of $1.2 billion.  Though she is one of our newest members, within weeks of her arrival here she began to set herself apart from her peers and put her stamp on this flight.  Senior Airman Vincent immediately took a strong interest in the state of morale, and after Equipment Flight split into three separate entities she was elected as the new morale coordinator.  She made a huge positive impact on our team which had been feeling the stress from the rigorous transition into the lone Air Force Equipment hub, coordinating our sections first bowling event. Still demonstrating her affinity for helping people in any way possible, she completed a four day RTA training course to become a certified Resiliency instructor."
