Langley Chief's Group Sharp Airman Award

By Airman First Class Kaylee Dubois 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Name: Staff Sgt. Nortaya Alexander

Job Title: Headquarters Air Combat Command personnel technician

Hometown: Salem, N.J.

Award: Langley Chief's Group Sharp Airman Award

How did it feel to win this award: I was genuinely shocked. It feels really good to know that the job that you do day in and day out is appreciated and that people notice. It was a really good feeling.

What advice would you give to other Airmen: Take pride in what you do and be happy. You never know how you may affect someone else.

Hobbies: I enjoy reading and shopping, gardening and spending time with my son, husband, and dog. I also try to volunteer at least once a month. My two favorite places to volunteer are the USO and the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank.

"SSgt Nortaya Alexander, is an amazingly sharp and productive leader [who] is consistently executing business beyond her scope of responsibility for a personalist in her grade in a base-level position," said Chief Master Sgt. Henry Hayes, Air Combat Command Headquarters Squadron first sergeant. "It is easy to overlook a quiet, productive professional, but it would be a travesty to do so in this case."

Nominations for Langley Chief's Group Sharp Airman Award can be submitted to any Chief on base to recognize outstanding performance.
