LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Virginia –
The Air Combat Command Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Team will inspect the 1st Maintenance Group Monday through Friday.
The purpose of an LSET inspection is to ensure standardization across Air Combat Command and to identify any problems units are having complying with written guidance from ACC.
“With a command this large, this is ACC A4’s (Logistics) way of ensuring that all ACC maintenance and logistics units are in compliance with each other through Air Force, ACC and local instructions,” said Capt. Brady Poe, Maintenance Training Flight commander. “Our local instructions allow us to be stricter on ourselves, but we must first make sure we are in compliance with Air Force and command instructions.”
Based on the outstanding work the maintainers have accomplished, Captain Poe thinks the wing’s Airmen have put themselves in a position to do very well.
“If there were any large concerns, we would have brought them up to the LSET team long before they arrived,” he said.
Inspections are scheduled every 18 to 24 months and, although units are not in competition for awards based on LSET inspections, receiving an honorable mention or benchmark from the logistics team is a top honor.
The 1st Maintenance Group was benchmarked for the Dedicated Crew Chief and Proud Phoenix Programs after the last inspection. It was one of five benchmarks awarded in a two-year period surrounding the wing’s last inspection.
