RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
The deadline was Feb. 15 for senior raters to provide lieutenants in the 2002 and 2003 year groups eligible to meet the 2006 Force Shaping board a copy of their retention recommendation forms.
The retention recommendation form will be included in the officer’s central selection record along with performance reports, training reports, decorations, and a letter to the board if the officer chooses to submit one.
Letters to the board must be received at the Air Force Personnel Center here by 11:59 p.m. CST April 9. Instructions for submitting a letter can be found on the force shaping Web site.
With RRFs handed out, the next milestone fast approaching for force shaping board eligibles to consider is the voluntary separations deadline. On Wednesday, the voluntary Force Shaping Program will close to 2006 board eligible officers as the personnel center begins board preparations.
Through the volunteer program some career fields have reached their sustainment quota and lieutenants in those Air Force specialties will no longer meet the board. Those specialties in the 2002 year group are scientist and weather. The 2003 exempted career fields are: intelligence, logistics readiness, civil engineering, acquisitions, contracting, finance, OSI, and communication and information.
The 2006 Force Shaping Board is scheduled to convene at the personnel center April 10 and the board results will be released no later than June 1. Those not retained will have an automatic date of separation of Sept. 29 unless they apply for an earlier date.
Force shaping eligibles are encouraged to take advantage of the transition resources available through their family support center.
