Langley competes for Hennessey

The Hennessy trophy is an annual award presented to the Air Force installation having the best food service program in the United States Air Force.

The award is based on the entire scope of an installation’s food service program. This includes exhibiting excellence in kitchen operations, serving and dining operations, training, personnel and readiness, sanitation and repair maintenance, and management effectiveness.

The food service staff started preparing for this evaluation over a year ago.

Incorporating new menu items and programs have improved customer participation and our customer satisfaction rating is the highest ever at 98 per cent.

Raptor burger, fresh made chicken wraps in flavored tortillas, clux deluxe chicken sandwiches, build a leaning tower of pizza night served every Wednesday, pizza by the slice served every Thursday for lunch, daily lunch time deli bar sandwiches made to order, self serve omelet bar for breakfast are just few of our new menu initiatives.

BBQ 101, a joint venture with wing safety, kicks off the 101 critical days of summer. Quarterly birthday meal with prize drawings, monthly specialty meals are huge customer service programs.

A team of food service professionals representing the Air Force Services Agency, the National Restaurant Association, and the Society of Foodservice Management will evaluate Langley’s food service program on Feb 23 and 24.

The entire food service staff is ready to show the evaluators that they are not only the best in Air Combat Command but the best in the Air Force.
