LANGLEY AFB, VA. –
Bethel Clinic patients will need to double check the location of their appointments this summer.
The 1st Medical Group announced the Bethel Clinic will close for renovations this summer and patients will be directed to the new NASA Clinic until the work is complete.
The staff and records at the Bethel Clinic will migrate to the NASA clinic for four to six weeks before moving back, but that is only the first change.
“Once the Bethel Clinic is back, the Gold and Silver clinics will move to the NASA Clinic,” said Col. Deborah Bostock, 1st Medical Operations Squadron commander. “NASA will provide care for dependents and retirees. Active-duty patients will be reassigned to the Blue Clinic in the Langley Hospital.”
The change is designed to streamline medical and military operations at the hospital.
“It will let us do a better job of coordinating care for deployments and profiling,” Colonel Bostock said. “All Personal Health Assessments, evaluation boards, profiles and routine care for active duty will be done at the hospital.”
The Pen Clinic will also close and move to the NASA Clinic, meaning there will not be a primary care site at Mary Immaculate Hospital.
Colonel Bostock said she realizes there will be confusion, but the 1st MDG will take steps to make it as easy as possible.
“All they need to do is listen to which building to go to,” she said. “Be flexible, anticipate that there might be confusion. If things get mixed up, we’re going to take care of you.”
No official date has been set for the migration. Langley people will be notified through The Flyer when the migration happens and if any further changes occur.
“We are attempting to provide the same services as we normally do in the summer,” Colonel Bostock said. “There may be days when that is reduced. The goal is to maintain current access to care.”
