Airman’s Attic meets needs of our Airmen

By Senior Airman Heidi Davis 1st Fighter Wing Public Affairs

For many first-term Airmen, finding items for their dorm rooms or homes at an affordable price can be a challenge.

That is why the Langley Airman's Attic has hundreds of items at just the right price for any Airman - cheap.

From dishes and VCRs to pieces of furniture and baby supplies, the attic is continuously taking care of young Airmen and their families.

Wendy Gordon is the mother of four daughters and wife of Staff Sgt. Michael Gordon, 1st Security Forces Squadron. Her husband has been on a temporary duty assignment to Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, for the past year.

"While my husband has been away, money has been tight," Mrs. Gordon said. "So, being able to find items at the Airman's Attic, like outfits for the girls and basic household items, rather than having to go Wal-mart makes life easier."

Mrs. Gordon and her family have been utilizing the attic for the past two years because of the availability of items and the helpfulness of the staff members.

"Each time I go in there, the staff helps me with the girls, takes large items out to my car and even notifies me when new items arrive," she said.

In addition to household items, Airmen can find a large selection of used dress blues, CDs, movies and clothing items.

"It's a wonderful program for young Airman that I hope continues to be around," Mrs. Gordon said.

The Airman's Attic is open 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and is located across the parking lot from the base exchange near the base pool.
