LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Airmen from the 1st Logistics Readiness Squadron recently nominated Master Sgt. Dinky Smalls as one of Langley's warriors of the week.
Unit, duty title: 1st Logistics Readiness Squadron primary unit deployment manager
Hometown: Cainhoy, S.C.
Career goals: To continue to do my job to the best of my ability and be the best possible supervisor and leader to those under me when I return to my career field in vehicle operations
Time at Langley: Six years, seven months
Time in the Air Force: 15 years
Hobbies: Watching football, working out, and spending time with family
The thing I like most about my job is: Being able to help make the deployment process as smooth as possible for those leaving; and all the knowledge I've gained since working as a UDM
Best Langley memory: Just knowing my office had a part in helping our guys deploy and return home safely
Why Sergeant Smalls was nominated as one of Langley's warriors of the week:
"Sergeant Smalls acts on behalf of the unit commander for all 1st LRS deployment matters, including maintaining an accurate account of the health and readiness for more than 300 military personnel. He is also actively involved in the community and supports the 1st LRS through fundraising events, such as the Air Power over Hampton Roads air show. With his support, the squadron raised more than $3,000 which it plans to use toward morale-building events. It is without a doubt that Sergeant Smalls deserves recognition for his dedication."
