LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The defending intramural football champions, the 1st Medical Group, lost to the 1st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron during a match Nov. 7, 12-7.
The game first started with 1st MDG driving the ball down the field as Franchot Jennings threw a touchdown pass to Gregory Ford.
The 1MDG also scored the point after touchdown, however The rest of the first half was a defensive struggle.
In the second half, 1st AMXS' Alexander Morris caught a pass and rushed for a touchdown, but 1st AMXS failed to score the extra point. The game was 7-6 at this point with 1st MDG hanging on by a slim margin and 1st AMXS controlling the ball with 18 seconds left in the game.
The 1st AMXS quarterback dropped back and threw a long bomb to the receiver. There was a game delay with six seconds left on the clock, as the referees tried to decide if the ball was indeed caught.
This call was to 1st AMXS' advantage, as the clock stopped and the players were able to get down field to set up the last play. The quarterback threw a pass to Earnest Fishburne for the game winning touchdown as time expired with 1st AMXS on top, 12-7.
