Finding 'financial peace'

By Beth Gosselin 1st Fighter Wing Public Affairs

The 1st Fighter Wing Chapel will sponsor "Financial Peace University," a 13-week debt-free living workshop beginning Feb. 5, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel annex auditorium.

The personal financial management course is a DVD series taught by Dave Ramsey and includes topics such as budgeting, saving, investing and more.

Almost 30 Langley Airmen have completed the course and many say it serves as a valuable tool for budget and debt-reduction counseling.

"You don't have to be broke to benefit from this class," said Senior Airman Holly Catanzaro, a 1st FW chaplain assistant who recently completed the workshop. "Your money shouldn't control your lifestyle. This class teaches you how to control your money and live the lifestyle you want."

Stephen Zabel, 1st Fighter Wing chapel accounting technician, said the workshop is especially important this time of year because of holiday spending.

"This workshop is beneficial to Airmen who may have gone on a spending spree the last couple of weeks," said Mr. Zabel.

The course costs $50 for each person or couple in attendance after the base chapel subsidy. To register for the course, call Mr. Zabel at 764-3627.
