LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Electrical workers began repairing faulty cables in Bethel Manor March 6 around 1:30 p.m. to restore power and prevent future outages for residents.
This work comes after the unexpected power outage March 5, which led to a broken water line late later that day, resulting in a temporary water outage.
"We understand the residents' frustration, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused," said Jamie Hampton, community director for The Landings at Langley. "We're working to correct the matter as quickly as possible."
Plumbers began working on the water line March 6 at about 1:30 p.m., and residents can expect water at about 4 p.m.; however, gas water heaters were turned off to prevent additional damage.
Once water is restored, residents will need to run their water slowly to flush the air out of the lines, said Ms. Hampton.
Although the current electrical repairs are estimated to last about six hours, Ms. Hampton said this repair should be permanent fix to the problem.
"This line failure was not something the power company could've foreseen or warned us about," she said. "Their hope is that there will be no need for residents to have any additional power outages."
