LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The new Bethel Manor Shoppette officially opened for business after the ribbon cutting ceremony March 5.
The new shoppette, located on First Street in Bethel Manor housing, is one-and-a-half times larger than the old shoppette, providing a Snack Avenue, car wash, automated dry cleaner and barbershop to the community.
The project has been in development for almost two years, and will replace the old shoppette, which is scheduled for demolition next week, said Angelika Bennett, Bethel Manor Shoppette manager.
Ms. Bennett also managed the old shoppette. "We worked so hard at the old location and thought we would miss it, but now that we're at the new one, we love it," she said.
"The shop offers a great selection of products and services to the residents in Bethel at a convenient location," said Kyle Barnes, 1st Civil Engineer Squadron project manager. "It is a fine addition to the community."
The shoppette's Snack Avenue offers a variety of products including pizza, hot dogs, coffee and cappuccino and donuts and dairy products. It also offers video rental, carpet cleaner rental, spirits, wine, beer, sodas and household and automotive items.
Customers may purchase fuel at any hour if paying at the pump, and the automated dry cleaning service is also open 24 hours.
"The automated dry cleaning is simple really," Ms. Bennett said. "You drop off the clothes, take a ticket, pay with credit card and pick it up the next day."
The hours of operation are Mondays through Thursdays, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The barbershop is open Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
