LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is on track to complete the construction of the $65 million addition to the 1st Fighter Wing Hospital here by summer 2009.
The military construction project, a 145,000-square foot, multistory addition to the hospital, is 56 percent complete and within budget, said John Clark, Norfolk District project engineer.
The addition will contain several state-of-the-art facilities, including a new operating room, labor and delivery ward, intensive care unit and several inpatient facilities.
Once construction is complete, Langley patients will also see an increase in the number of staff providing healthcare to the more than 75,000 patients who use the hospital every year.
