Baby sets Langley record

By Tech. Sgt. April Wickes 1st Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office

At 13 pounds and 4 ounces, Falcon Green, son of Capt. Tevan and Chy Green, set a record July 3 as the biggest baby born at the hospital here.

Delivery logs dating to the 1930s allowed labor and delivery to confirm Falcon's record weight, according to Ms. Nicole Henderson, a registered nurse with the hospital's labor and delivery section.

"She was very, very calm -- she didn't lose control Ms. Henderson said. "For this size baby, I don't know how she kept her cool."

Mrs. Green delivered her child naturally, a decision she thought was important for her and the baby.

"I thought it was the safest and the best for both of us," said Mrs. Green.

Despite the obvious challenge, the delivery went well for mother and baby, said Ms. Donna Greenfield, a hospital nurse midwife.

"It was probably one of the most beautiful deliveries I have ever done," Ms. Greenfield said.

Though the Green's first child, Cevan, now 15 months old, was born a month early and also bigger than expected, Falcon's weight was still a surprise.

"No one was more surprised then I ... I thought maybe ten pounds," Mrs. Green said.
