Second dorm gets no-notice inspection

By Master Sgt. Anthony Davis 1st Fighter Wing Public Affairs

For the second time in three months, 1st Fighter Wing senior non-commissioned officers performed a no-notice health, morale and welfare inspection of a Team Langley dormitory.

Eberflus Hall residents were notified at 8 p.m. Dec. 14 of a mandatory, no-notice room and vehicle inspection. The residents also provided a urine specimen.

The inspection was directed by Brig. Gen. Mark Barrett, 1st Fighter Wing commander, to ensure unaccompanied housing residents live in a healthy environment, said Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Slater, 1st FW command chief, who organized the event.

"It's common for many to misconstrue the reasons for health, morale and welfare inspections," Chief Slater said. "They are not 'shakedowns' designed to disturb our Airmen's lives, rather they are an important tool for wing leadership to ensure the health and welfare of all Airmen."

"I want our dormitory residents to have the best possible living environment. Our Airmen work hard and they deserve safe and secure quarters." said General Barrett. "Their standards are high, and these health, morale and welfare inspections ensure we are meeting those standards."

Cunningham Hall residents experienced a health, morale and welfare inspection in September, and Chief Slater said this most recent inspection won't be the last.

"This is the right thing to do for the well-being of our Airmen," Chief Slater said.
