LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
This year's Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, which begins at Langley March 9 and ends April 19, provides Airmen the opportunity to contribute to any of the four official Air Force charitable organizations.
For 36 years the AFAF campaign has benefitted active duty, Reserve, Guard, retired Air Force personnel, surviving spouses, and families with contributions. The 2009 Air Force-wide campaign goal $5.8 million.
Beginning March 9, AFAF unit project officers will contact Airmen for their chance to contribute. Members can contribute through cash donation, check, money order or direct deposit. Each charity receives 100 percent of designated contributions and all donations are tax deductible.
The Air Force Villages Indigent Widows' Fund supports the Air Force Village in San Antonio, Texas, which is a life-care community for retired officers, spouses, widows, widowers, and family members.
The Air Force Enlisted Village Indigent Widows' Fund supports the Air Force Village in Shalimar, Fla., providing rent subsidy and support to indigent widows and widowers of retired enlisted personnel.
The Air Force Aid Society is the official charity of the Air Force and assists in relieving financial emergencies encountered by active duty members and their families. AFAS also assists Reserve and Guard personnel who are on extended active duty.
The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation provides rent and financial assistance to the widows and widowers of all retired Air Force personnel, regardless of rank.
Each unit will have its own AFAF representatives and 100 percent contact will be established with all personnel. For more information or to contribute through Langley's AFAF campaign, please contact Capt. Heath Horton at 225-9312 or 1st Lt. Keith Meyer at 225-0766.
