LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Col. Daniel R. Johnson assumed command of the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing from Col. James R. Marrs in a ceremony here April 1.
Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Heithold commander of the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, presided over the change of command ceremony, held at the Bayside Enlisted Club.
Colonel Johnson, who recently served as commander, 497th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group here at Langley Air Force Base, said his top priority is to take good care of the men and women of the wing.
"Our Airmen are in the fight 24/7," said Col. Johnson. "We will commit time and resources to their continuous education and training."
As new 480th ISR Wing Commander, Col. Johnson will command five groups, four of which are geographically separated. The groups include the 497th ISR Group, the 548th ISR Group at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., the 692nd ISR Group at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, the 693rd ISR Group at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and the 694th ISR Group at Osan Air Base, Korea.
The 480th ISR Wing executes regionally focused, globally networked ISR operations in direct support to warfighting commanders.
The 480th ISR Wing is assigned to the Air Force ISR Agency in San Antonio, Texas, which is directly under Headquarters Air Force at the Pentagon.
