LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
More than 15 exhibits are scheduled for display at the
Virginia Air and Space Center April 19 through 23 as a part of
Hampton Roads Air Force Week activities.
Airmen from
Space Command,
480th Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Wing,
1st Security Forces Squadron, and many more will be available to speak with visitors to the Virginia Air and Space Center, which is offering free admission and free viewing of the IMAX film "OPERATION RED FLAG," noon to 5 p.m. April 19 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 20 through 23.
Hampton Roads Air Force Week provides local communities an opportunity to meet Air Force members, see how they help protect America, and allow them to say "thank you" for their support. All Hampton Roads Air Force Week events are free and open to the public.
"Langley AFB is such an important resource in our community, and helping people understand that through community outreach and the exhibits ant the VASC, is extremely important," said Todd Bridgeford, VASC executive director.
Of the many attractions there will be two working canine demonstrations scheduled for April 20 and 23 at 10:30 a.m. F-15 pilots from the
71st Fighter Squadron will be available to speak with visitors April 19 at 1 p.m. and April 20, 21 and 23 at 10 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m.
Lieutenant Colonel Daniel J. Potas, Hampton Roads Air Force Week director, said he hopes the community will gain "an understanding of the many facets of airpower from deterrence, to humanitarian support, to intelligence gathering, to support of ground forces, to air dominance, and to maintaining security in the skies over America."
