LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Hampton Roads Air Force Week kicks off April 18 with a flyover by multiple aircraft, parade of Airmen, and band performance during the opening ceremony at Hampton University.
Hampton Roads Air Force Week provides local communities an opportunity to meet Air Force members, see how they help protect America, and allow them to say "thank you" for their support. All Hampton Roads Air Force Week
events are free and open to the public.
The opening ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. at Hampton University's Armstrong Stadium. Special guests include
Congressman Glenn Nye,
Congressman Rob Wittman,
Congressman Bobby Scott, Virginia Secretary of Public Safety
John W. Marshall, Hampton Mayor
Molly Joseph Ward, Commander of Air Combat Command
Gen. John D.W. Corley, and Virginia Adjutant General
Maj. Gen. Robert B. Newman Jr.
The flyover includes four
F-22A Raptors, a
B-25 Mitchell,
B-1B Lancer,
P-51 Mustang and
KC-135 Stratotanker. Performances by the
Air Force Honor Guard and rhythm and blues band
"Satellite" begin at 8 p.m.
The week offers a multitude of activities that appeal to children and adults. Events include exciting displays, earth-shaking flyovers, and remarkable hands-on experiences with our unique equipment.
