LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Hold onto to your seats when the joint airpower demonstration invades Virginia Beach Boardwalk April 22 at noon which is free and open to the public.
Journey with us away from the safety of Va. Beach to a fictional small country whose illegitimate leaders are entrenched in the ocean-side city. A group of U.S. Special Forces Soldiers have been cut-off from the main forces fighting the insurgence. F-22 Raptors, F-15 Eagles, and Navy F/A-18 Hornets arrive on scene to ensure air dominance. Jet skis and combat pararescuemen come flying out the back of a C-130 Hercules and storm the shore to rescue the Soldiers. An HH-60 arrives on scene to lift the pararescuemen and rescued Soldiers to safety.
After the demo the CSAR pararescuemen will join the crowd to answer question.
"This demonstration shows the many facets of airpower," said Lt. Col. Daniel Potas, Hampton Roads Air Force Week director. "The Air Force is part of a joint team, from deterrence to humanitarian support, to intelligence support of ground forces, to air dominance and maintaining security in the skies over America."
Major Katherine Akin, Air Force Exposition team leader, said she hopes the community will gain "a reinforced faith in their military's ability to protect, serve, and defend them without reservation. Also, solid senses of empowerment that their support helps make our jobs easier."
This is one of many events going on in the Hampton Roads area as the Air Force says "thank you" to the community during Hampton Roads Air Force Week.
The week offers a multitude of activities that appeal to children and adults. Events include exciting displays, earth-shaking flyovers, and remarkable hands-on experiences with our unique equipment.
