Langley Officers Association hosts surviving spouses

By Melva Mallison Military Officers Association of America

The local chapter of the Military Officers Association of America held a special luncheon for surviving spouses July 22 at the Bayside Enlisted Club.

Retired Col. Jim Pauls, Virginia Peninsula chapter president, said the purpose of the luncheon was to honor the long and dedicated service auxiliary members have devoted to their country, MOAA and their chapter.

MOAA auxiliary members are widows and widowers of officers (active-duty, Reserve, National Guard, retired, and veteran officers). VIPMOAA currently has about 100 auxiliary members of about 400 total members.

Luncheon speakers were Joanne Steen, MOAA Auxiliary Member Advisory Committee, and Jackie Peters, VIPMOAA and MOAA's Virginia Council of Chapters auxiliary liaison.
