LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The long awaited inspection has arrived at the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing...for months the wing has been preparing for the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency's Unit Compliance Inspection while simultaneously conducting combat ISR operations for component and combatant commanders.
Throughout the weekend the 35 members of the Air Force ISR Agency's Inspector General's team arrived at Langley Air Force Base and made final preparations for the inspection that began Monday morning and goes through Aug. 26.
Col. Dan Johnson, commander of the 480th ISR Wing, thanked his wing team for going the extra mile to get ready for the inspection during the Monday morning in-brief.
"The UCI is the culmination of a lot of hard work," said Col. Johnson. "I know that you had a lot on your plate, but you somehow found the time to get ready for this inspection. I'm very proud of each and every member of this wing for what you have accomplished. This is your chance to shine and show the inspectors all the hard work you do."
For 10 days, the 35 inspectors will pore through the day-to-day business of the 480th ISR Wing whose mission is to execute around-the-clock global ISR operations for component and combatant commanders and to fully participate in vital national cryptologic missions.
The purpose of the UCI is to show compliance with Air Force instructions and Air Force standards, one of the critical emphasis items of Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Norton Schwartz, but it also gives a wing the chance to show the inspection team some of the outstanding work they do.
