Flooding
LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- Beware of flash flooding, standing water. Although Langley isn't often affected by hurricanes, severe weather is expected throughout the summer months, and flash flooding is a dangerous byproduct of torrential downpours. Lt. Col. Matt Esper, 1st Fighter Wing Safety Office chief of safety, advises drivers to avoid driving through areas of standing water, as it may disable vehicles. Drivers cannot gauge how deep the water is and may be deeper than it appears. Also, drivers are advised to avoid driving through moving water. If you notice any areas of standing water on base, call the 1st Civil Engineer Squadron at 764-5342. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Zachary Wolf)
