LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The Chief of Staff of the Air Force approved the wear of the new 50-percent Acrylic/50-percent Wool Pullover, V-Neck Sweater (50/50 Sweater, which is currently available in AAFES Military Clothing Sales Stores.
The 50/50 Sweater is a lighter weight with a flat knit and more relaxed fit that the 100-percent wool version.
The initial distribution of the 50/50 Sweater included a Velcro aircrew style name patch that has now been removed. Airmen who purchased the 50/50 Sweater with the name patch can take it to any AAFES Alterations to have it removed at no charge. Nametags are no longer worn with either the 50/50 Sweater or 100% Wool Sweater.
All other wear guidance for the pullover sweater remains consistent with Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Table 2.1, Line 8 for men and Table 2.3, Line 12 for women. The phase-out date for the 100-percent Wool Pullover Sweater is Oct. 1.
