LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The Air Combat Command commander's conference room underwent a major overhaul in recent weeks, receiving state-of-the-art upgrades to 100 percent of its communications equipment.
Col. Joe Sublousky, ACC Warfighter Technology division chief, led the charge in revamping the conference room, which now features collaboration tools like Office Communicator Server, SharePoint, and secure and unsecure video conferencing.
"The upgrade was definitely needed," he said. "COMACC's conference room must set the pace for collaboration and innovation in the command, and this upgrade moves him from analog into the digital age."
The contractor, Global Projection Systems, completely revamped the control room, which operates the communications equipment, streamlining operations for users. An additional four monitors give the control center the ability to monitor and adjust input and output from three HD projectors and three cameras as needed. Most notably, a new automated touch panel allows the operator to set up a video conferencing session and collaboration session with one touch
"COMACC now has more ways to communicate and collaborate than ever," said Tom Floyd, project manager.
The vendor also installed three true high-definition projectors, which can simultaneously display two briefings or full-motion video, allowing the operator to adjust the presentations as necessary. The audio system also received equipment upgrades with the addition of 10 speakers and eight microphones.
