HAMPTON, Va. –
The city of Hampton is facing challenges with the budget and needs your help.
Over the next few months, Hampton officials are hosting a series of "chats" to collect feedback from anyone within the Hampton Roads area.
If you work, shop, live and/or have a stake in the City of Hampton, we encourage you to come to one of these "chats."
Participation in the "chats" will help guide City Manager Mary Bunting and the city council in writing the budget for the next fiscal year. The city council will review feedback received from the chats and assess which services the community deems essential. The council will then strive to maintain these services despite budget shortfalls.
Hampton will conduct the chats in three settings:
Organizational Chat - Bunting or one of the assistant city managers will be present at these chats to give you an opportunity to voice concerns, values, and ask questions and receive feedback. Community organizations will host these "open to the public" chats.
Informal Chat - City employees will facilitate the chat to gather feedback and present it to the city manager and city council.
Meet and Greet- City staff will be located throughout the city for a one-on-one opportunity for you to presents concerns, which will be relayed to the city manager and city council. The staffer will write your values, or you may anonymously write your values on an ivalue cards, and place it in the drop box.
