Do you find yourself frustrated because the business of the day got ahead of you and you could not exercise? Do you tell yourself "I will work out at noon," but noon comes and goes and you still haven't exercised? You'll say, "I'll do it after work," but you get home, the kids or spouse greet you and the last thing on your mind is working out?
These questions and dilemmas you face are normal. They are road blocks that make meeting your goals difficult if you cannot determine a detour. Anyone faced with making changes in their lifestyle will encounter a obstacles. Some are easy to work around, while others take adjustments to work.
Who is the person that keeps you motivated to work out? Who meets you at the gym or track to keep you going? Is it a personal trainer, a co-worker, a marathon training partner, a spouse or a child?
Accountability partners are a key to success, ensuring you stay on track with your fitness goals.
For instance, perhaps you realize the best time for you to exercise is early in the morning. The temptation to stay in bed for an extra half hour is tempting when you are sleepy. But, if you were meeting someone to work out, whether that be a five-mile run or session at the, your chances of staying in bed decrease significantly. You made an appointment with someone and you promise to keep it.
An accountability partner can be anybody. However, it is imperative that you have similar goals. I am a runner, and I know that I run more often when I have my "accountabili-buddies" run with me. We help each other stay motivated to go the distance we planned on. The same plan may work for you! Start meeting with someone that enjoys similar work outs. and promise to meet at similar times -- this will keep you both on target with your goals.
When faced with a road block, use your accountability partner to help you out. Their presence will keep you motivated and on track!
