Retreat planned for 63rd Air Force birthday

By Senior Airman Jarrod R. Chavana 633d Air Base Wing Public Affairs

A retreat is scheduled for Sept. 17 at Langley's Memorial Park at 4 p.m. to honor the Air Force's 63rd birthday.

"The Air Force Birthday Retreat is a great opportunity for all of Team Langley to show respect to our flag and to mark the 63rd Air Force birthday," said Master Sgt. Kelly Moose, 633d Comptroller Squadron wing staff agencies first sergeant.

Retreat is a military function to signal the end of the duty day, paying respect to the U.S. flag. This retreat will feature full military honors, including an honor guard and military formation.

"As retreat begins, visitors and spectators will see the Base Honor Guard perform a flag folding detail with historical narration," said Moose. "The National Anthem will also be sung live. There will also be five wings in attendance with formations on display."

Moose added, "I believe it's our job as leaders and Airmen to display proudly our history and military culture to civilians."
