LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The logisticians of the 633d Logistics Readiness Squadron once again affirmed their status as America's Premier Logistics Team during the recent Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection that took place Sept. 8-14.
The 633 LRS prepared for the week-long inspection by scrubbing their programs during the months and weeks leading up to the inspection. The preparation involved countless hours of running and re-running checklists, reviewing Air Force and Air Combat Command instructions and refining internal manuals and operating instructions to ensure compliance.
In the end, the hard work paid off high "Satisfactory" rating. The inspection team was very impressed and noted in the report summary that, "LRS personnel were very professional and enthusiastic about the mission. Airmen were eager to demonstrate their processes and share their knowledge. Leadership involvement was evident because of the highly qualified Airmen."
During the inspection, evaluators rigorously administered performance evaluations. A PE is defined as the direct evaluation of an individual or team conducting and performing a logistics action. PEs may be conducted on task-oriented functions such as equipment maintenance, or on process-oriented functions such as vehicle dispatch. When the final scores were tallied LRS passed 262 of 264 personnel evaluations, scoring a phenomenal 99.2 percent. Moreover, an impressive 46 Airmen from LRS were recognized as "Outstanding Performers."
Al J. Johnson, 633 LRS logistics manager, said he knew this inspection would be "particularly challenging" due to the squadrons high operations tempo and deployment rate, and the constant restructuring that has become the norm for LRSs across the Air Force. He was proven correct as the inspection looked at three times the number of processes as compared to the last inspection conducted in 2008. Even so, the squadron excelled as they showed the inspectors what Team LRS was all about.
Lt. Col. Edward J. Madsen, 633 LRS commander, praised the unit for a job well done.
"Everyone in LRS should be very proud of the extraordinary work they do each and every day to keep Joint Base Langley-Eustis running smoothly," he said. "This inspection validated what we already knew; that our Airmen know their jobs and do them extremely well."
