‘One Stop’ Consolidated Soldier Support Center coming soon

By W.G. Smith 733d Force Support Division

Renovations are currently underway at Fort Eustis in Bldg. 650, formerly the NCO Academy, located on Monroe Avenue. Once complete, the facility will be transformed into the Joint Base Langley-Eustis "One Stop" consolidated Soldier Support Center.

In a continuing effort to improve the quality of life for Soldiers and families assigned to Fort Eustis, Col. Glenn K. Grothe, 733d Mission Support Group commander, will soon officially open the new consolidated Soldier Support Center. According to the commander, the grand opening of the facility is scheduled for the third week of March. More definitive information will be coming soon.

The transition to this facility is only one of many construction projects ongoing at Fort Eustis under the Base Realignment and Closure authorization. When fully operational, the center will represent a major milestone and concept change here. We are centralizing several different organizations from locations on post to serve as a one-stop shop for in- and out-processing of Fort Eustis personnel.

Post activities housed at the Soldier Support Center will include:

Military Personnel Branch

· Permanent Party Personnel Services

· Trainee/Student Services

· ID card/DEERS

· Retirement Services

· Transition Center

· Personnel Automation

· Assignments/Reassignments (Passports/Family Travel)

Army Community Service

· Army Emergency Relief/CFC

· Financial/Employment Readiness Program

· Exceptional Family Member Program Information and Referral/Relocation Services

· Mobilization Deployment Readiness Program

· Army Family Team Building/Army Family Action Plan

· ACS Volunteer Program

Child and Youth Services

· Central Registration

· Youth Sports

Defense Military Pay Office (Finance)

Transportation (personal/inbound property; Carlson Wagonlit)

Housing Referral

Vehicle Registration and Post Retention

Processing at the One-Stop will include confirmation of assignment, publication or amendment of orders, updating personnel files, finance record and entitlement checks, and interaction with the other service providers in ACS, housing or transportation as necessary. Information packets on post units, facilities and activities will also be available.

The installation leadership is confident that this facility will propel us forward in providing the quality support our Soldiers and their families so richly deserve, and improve and expand on the many services we already offer.

Phase two of this process will see the command team of Colonel Grothe, Keith Morrow and 733 MSG Command Sergeant Major Carolyn Johnson move from Bldg. 210 to the partially vacated Bldg. 601 in Hines Circle. Also moving to Bldg. 601 is the director of the 733d Force Support Division and his immediate staff and the director of Mission Training Support and his staff.

The director of Support Operations with the Casualty Area Command and Survivor Support Services will remain in Bldg. 601. There, they will continue support to Soldiers and their families along with the Army Career and Alumni Program and the Soldier and Family Assistance Center.

The command pledges to continuously strive to improve and will provide periodic updates as we approach these moves and implementation.
