Manpower program provides funding for unit projects

By Maya Green Air Combat Command A1MRH

Did you know there is a manpower program available that allows organizations to purchase items that will improve their productivity? The Productivity Enhancing Capital Investment program provides funding for the purchase of readily available off-the-shelf technology and other productivity enhancements that improve combat readiness, enhance unit capability, and conserve critical AF resources at AF bases worldwide.

PECI identifies investment opportunities and provides funding for acquisition, transportation, installation and one-time incidents such as training. Every PECI project must show measurable savings or improve the organization's productivity and will fall under one of two different categories, depending on the amount of the initial investment cost.

The first is Fast Payback Capital Investment. This program funds items less than $250,000 and must pay for itself in two years or less. FASCAP requests are approved at major command level. Approval notification is generally issued within 30 days of submission.

The other program is the Productivity Investment Fund, which allows units to purchase big-ticket items ranging from $250,000 or more with a four-year payback. The Headquarters USAF PECI manager selects and approves qualified projects and transfers funds to the MAJCOM's budget.

PECI is the fast and easy way to increase productivity, enhance unit capability and generate savings. For more information on how this program can fund your organization's project, call Michelle Johnson at 764-7637.
