JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va –
Military and civilian members living and working on or near Langley Air Force Base or Fort Eustis may encounter delays entering the installations or unusual noises because of a scheduled military preparedness exercise Feb. 25-27, military officials here announced today.
The exercise is designed to test the ability of installation personnel to efficiently deploy military members and to rapidly adjust to changing security conditions.
Members of the public wishing to enter either Langley Air Force Base or Fort Eustis this weekend should be prepared for probable longer lines of vehicles at entrance gates and extended waiting times. There may be traffic routing adjustments that change operating gates and direction. Persons entering the installations should also expect changes in traffic flow, direction, parking and other possible restrictions.
Since the exercise is to take place within the two installations, any impact upon surrounding communities should be minimal. However, neighbors of either installation may become aware of unusual sounds from the installations, such as an increase of public address loudspeaker announcements.
The exercise is being held to train and test operational preparedness and in support of ongoing military mission requirements.
