JBLE 'pushes' to preserve heritage

By Tech. Sgt. April Wickes 633d Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Members of Joint Base Langley-Eustis gathered in the Shellbank Fitness Center March 11 for a JBLE first sergeants-sponsored Push-up-A-Thon/Sit-up-A-Thon, to raise funds for the Enlisted Heritage Hall at Gunter Annex, Ala.

Two hours and 14,367 push-ups and sit-ups later, 59 participants raised approximately $1,200 in contributions to preserve long-standing Army and Air Force history.

"Every push-up was another dime or two toward (raising money for this) event," said Mr. John Musser, Fort Eustis Felker Army Airfield manager. "Raising money for any good cause always feels good. (...) The opportunity to do joint things, reach across the peninsula, shake hands and provide support makes it all sweeter."

The Enlisted Heritage Hall is dedicated to preserving the rich and dramatic heritage and tradition of the enlisted corps of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Aeronautical Division, Air Service, Air Corps and Air Forces in the development of air power to defend the United States.

"The enlisted heritage hall is vying for donations all the time to continue to build on their heritage displays in order to make the museum a better place," said Master Sgt. Kelly Moose, 633d Comptroller Squadron Wing Staff Agencies first sergeant.
