FORT EUSTIS, Va. –
The Army Emergency Relief campaign team launched the official kick-off March 10 at the Fort Eustis Club. This year's campaign goal is $65,000. Each unit has assigned a representative and all donations are to be submitted to the representative in the form of cash, check or an allotment from military pay.
In today's economic environment, there are more Soldiers and families in need of assistance and the AER campaign is designed to help meet their needs in the event of an emergency.
Generally, AER interest-free loans are less than $1,000 for terms of between 12 and 24 months; in the case of larger loans, extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Soldiers are given emergency financial assistance for needs such as food, rent, utilities, emergency transportation, vehicle repairs, funeral expenses, emergency medical/dental expenses and personal needs when military pay is delayed or during other financial hardships.
Civilians wishing to donate to the AER campaign may contribute by cash or check only.
The AER benefits are also made available to retirees, widows, and orphans of Soldiers who have died while on active duty or after retirement.
