Consolidated Soldier Support Center holds grand opening ribbon-cutting

By Lyna Tucker 633d Air Base Wing Public Affairs

With clear skies, warm temperatures and a "one-two-three" count, the Fort Eustis community celebrated the grand opening of the Consolidated Soldier Support Center during a ceremony April 6 at Bldg. 650, Monroe Ave.

A crowd of well-wishers and installation leadership helped mark the occasion with the ribbon-cutting and a reception as well as a look at the newly-opened service center.

The center - formerly the NCO Academy, is a one-stop shop providing Soldiers and families a centralized location for administrative processes such as financial records and benefit entitlements, ID Card/DEERs and assignments/reassignments. The facility also houses Army Community Service agencies including Army Emergency Relief, Exceptional Family Member Program, Information and Referral/Relocation Services, and Army Family Team Building. U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard counseling services are also available.

In a brief speech, 733d Mission Support Group Commander Col. Glenn K. Grothe said the consolidation of services under one roof is another example of the Fort Eustis community's pledge to Soldiers and their families.

"Today's ceremony marks our commitment to Soldiers and their families and is in keeping with the Army Family Covenant," Colonel Grothe said.
