LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Langley Air Force Base will host its first Caring for People Forum June 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the community center, and is seeking 96 active-duty, Reserve and Guard military members, family members and retirees to provide information for Air Force leadership.
According to U.S. Public Health Service Lt. Cmdr. (Dr.) Bryan Davidson, JBLE Integrated Delivery System chair, volunteers will attend one of eight support groups: family and spouse communication, Guard and Reserve, school, single Airman, deployment, health and wellness, special needs family member, and housing.
"This forum is designed to empower Airmen and families by giving them the opportunity to voice their concerns or suggestions on Air Force policy and support services," said Dr. Davidson. "It will identify areas that cannot be resolved at the local level, so they may be forwarded up to ACC and the Air Staff."
Group participants will brainstorm and consolidate concerns into a core set for consideration by the entire forum. At the conclusion of the forum, JBLE senior leadership will review the results before they are forwarded to Air Combat Command, which will host a similar forum. The Air Force will study all findings and select action items for the Headquarters Air Force 2011 Caring for People Forum in July.
"The Air Force cannot make change in a vacuum, so they need to know how military members, their families and retirees really are doing on a day-to-day basis," Dr. Davidson explained. "I am confident we will see real change as a result of our efforts," he continued. "We invite our JBLE community to join us as we shape our future in a positive way."
