FORT EUSTIS, Va. –
The U.S. Army Installation Management Command Atlantic Region conducted a color uncasing ceremony Aug. 11 at the Murphy Field Sports Complex on Fort Eustis amongst distinguished guests, family members and friends of the Fort Eustis community.
Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch, commander, U.S. Army Installation Management Command and assistant chief of staff for installation management, led the uncasing ceremony and was assisted in rolling the command's colors by Davis D. Tindoll, Jr., Atlantic Region director.
The uncasing of the colors symbolizes the establishment of IMCOM Atlantic Region as a consolidation of Northeast Region, headquartered at Fort Monroe, and Southeast Region, headquartered at Fort McPherson, Ga. The Atlantic Region oversees installation management on 19 major installations and several special installations located east of the Mississippi River.
"The hardest part about change is always the fact that it's difficult to get the old way of business out of your mind so you can focus on the new way of business," said Lynch. "At IMCOM, I find that to be a minor issue because we're dealing with superb professionals, who every day, focus on doing the right things and doing things right.
Lynch said he personally picked Mr. Tindoll to run the Atlantic Region directorate because he said he's never seen a more dedicated professional.
"So when I looked across the purview of IMCOM, it was clear to me that the director of the newly formed region would be Davis Tindoll and when I made that decision I fell asleep that night at peace," Lynch added. "I know you're going to do great and I know you're going to exceed my expectations on a daily basis. That's not what's important, but what's important is you're focused on our important mission."
The mission of IMCOM is to provide Soldiers, civilians and their families with a quality of life commensurate with the quality of their service.
"How well we do this task has a direct impact on keeping Soldiers and families in the all-volunteer force," said Tindoll.
IMCOM, headquartered in San Antonio, oversees all facets of installation management such as construction, barracks and family housing, family care, food management, environment programs, well-being, morale, welfare and recreation programs, logistics, public works and installation funding.
