Clinics find new home in main hospital

By Airman 1st Class Racheal Watson 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Several 633rd Medical Group clinics relocated to USAF Hospital Langley's main building in mid-October as part of ongoing hospital expansions and renovations.

The Flight Medicine, Mental Health, and Public Health clinics, as well as Virginia Air National Guard medical personnel, moved from the aging Aerospace Medicine building into the newly-renovated area of the main hospital, located in the one-story portion of the main building behind the pharmacy.

The two-day, $41,000 migration project provides modernized work centers for the clinics, as well as providing a centralized location alongside the hospital's other clinics.

"We moved from building 74 to create a better work flow and accommodate growth and size capabilities with a modern facility," said Col. Eric Stone, the 633rd MDG commander.

The Mental Health clinic and the ANG are temporarily located with the other clinics behind the pharmacy until future renovations are complete.

The group's ultimate goal is to consolidate all clinics into the main hospital. However, clinic locations will continue shifting as renovations and construction continues.

"It is more convenient for the patients," said Lt. Col. Kathleen Jones, 633rd Aerospace Medicine Squadron commander. "They can just walk in, and it should be one-stop shopping here."

The Aerospace Medicine building, which was built in the 1950s and served initially as dormitories, will serve in a variety of training capacities to base law enforcement and first responders before it is razed.
