Langley legal leader named ACC’s 2010 Outstanding Deputy Staff Judge Advocate

By Senior Airman Jason J. Brown 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Lt. Col. John "Chris" Johnson earned the 2010 Air Combat Command Outstanding Deputy Staff Judge Advocate award, adding to a year of milestone achievements for the Langley Law Center.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Burne, the Headquarters ACC SJA, presented the honor to Johnson at the Law Center's courtroom during a presentation Nov. 2.

Johnson's lengthy accomplishments include comprehensive management of joint base legal programs, successful awards package authoring, providing trusted legal counsel to base leadership, and selfless leadership in the law office, among other accolades.

In standard form, Johnson acknowledged his staff as the driving force behind his victory.

"I think the fact that 633rd ABW JA office was selected the ACC Legal Office of the Year for [fiscal year 2010] was a significant factor," he said. "I contribute it to strong leadership from our current and previous 633rd ABW Staff Judge Advocates, and an outstanding team of judge advocates, paralegals and civilians who are not only proficient, but highly dedicated.

"As the Deputy SJA, I get to be involved in the full range of JA's operations, so really any credit I received is a reflection of the excellent work everyone at 633rd ABW/JA does," he added.

The ACC Outstanding Deputy SJA of the Year award is the highest-level honor in the category.
