LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The holidays have come and gone, and the new year is underway. With the new dates on the calendar comes tax season, and Joint Base Langley-Eustis is prepared to open its Tax Centers Feb. 1
Locations at Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis will serve customers through April 17. The tax deadline is extended this year because the traditional April 15 deadline falls on a Sunday, and April 16 is a holiday.
More than 30 Airmen, Soldiers and civilian volunteers will man the tax centers, providing free tax services in accordance with the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
"The Tax Center is a great resource for active duty, their dependents and retirees. While many can complete their taxes at home for free in some cases, they can speak to an actual person with tax training at our centers," said Capt. Megan Tonner-Robinson, the JBLE Tax Center officer in charge. "Our ultimate goal into provide top-notch tax service so that our clients walk away feeling confident in their tax return."
Department of Defense civilian employee W-2s are available now, as well as reserve component Air Force and Army W-2s. Active duty Air Force and Army W-2s will be available Jan. 24. To access W-2s, or for a complete list of availability, visit the MyPay website at http://www.mypay.gov.
The Tax Centers will serve clients on an appointment-only basis. Phone lines will open Jan. 30 at both locations to schedule appointments.
The Langley Tax Center is located in Bldg. 801, at 402 Helms Ave., on Langley AFB. To make an appointment, call 225-5777. The Eustis Tax Center is located in Bldg. 2733, at 2733 Madison Ave., on Fort Eustis. To make an appointment, call 878-2343. Both tax centers will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
