JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
The Air Force is expected to transition from the Controlled Spend Account card back to the Government Travel Card in August.
1st Lt. Kenneth Eaton, 633rd Comptroller Squadron Financial Services Flight commander, said a specific date has not yet been set for Airmen at Joint Base Langley-Eustis to make the conversion.
"The Air Force is replacing the CSA with the GTC due to significant challenges," said Maj. Michael Bryant, 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing comptroller. "The CSA hasn't been working well for frequent travelers and those with unique missions. However, the GTC can continue to meet mission requirements for everyone."
Eaton said Airmen from JBLE have not experienced any significant issues with the CSA, and he expects the transition to be transparent.
"In most cases, it should be business as usual for travelers," said Eaton. "There will be no immediate changes, and Airmen will keep their current card. They will be able to use it without any disruption. Balances will carry over and payment due dates will remain the same. For new Airmen, they will simply be issued the GTC to begin with."
Bryant said the CSA to GTC transition will occur automatically.
"Cardholders will use the CSA under current procedures throughout the summer," said Bryant. "The transition will begin in August and be completed by the end of September. You will receive formal notification when your card has officially been converted to a GTC. So, make sure your mailing and e-mail addresses are current."
Eaton said more information will be provided as the details of the program are finalized.
