633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Two local establishments were placed on the off-limits list to base military personnel by Joint Base Langley-Eustis commanders recently.

Buck's Brand, located at 16906 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, and The Junction, located at 16916 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, were deemed a danger to servicemembers due to criminal activity and a propensity for violence.

The two establishments are currently in an emergency temporary off-limits status to JBLE military personnel only. The businesses will be brought up for final placement on the off-limits list for all military in Hampton Roads at the next meeting of the Joint Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board for Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. The JAFDCB is an investigative committee composed of members from each military service and civilian advisers who work with local law enforcement agencies and local businesses to prevent unfair, dangerous or criminal practices against military members. The emergency decision to place these establishments on the off-limits list is in accordance with Air Force Instruction 31-213 and Army Regulation 190-24.

"The decision to place Buck's Brand and The Junction on an emergency off-limits status is in response to maintaining good order and discipline and for the protection of the force," said Army Col. Reggie L. Austin, 633rd Air Base Wing and Joint Base Langley-Eustis vice commander. "The safety and security of all our servicemembers and employees is our top priority."
