FORT EUSTIS, Va. –
Music filled the air as the smell of hot dogs, hamburgers and nachos danced across the noses of more than 1,800 attendees at the first annual Fall Festival held at Fort Eustis, Va., Oct. 19-20.
The event, which replaced the annual Octoberfest, is a lot more family friendly compared to previous years, according to Sherri Noland, Morale Welfare and Recreation chief of marketing and sponsorship.
"One of the ways we did that was by moving it to from the bowling alley parking lot to Murphy field, and adding more family-type events," said Noland.
Some of those family-friendly events included paintball, a giant bouncy house, hay rides, puppet shows, an outdoor movie and pumpkin decorating.
"We just loved how family friendly this event is," said Lesley Miculek, a guest at the festival. "It's important these types of events are held to help build the Army-family community."
The event offered free admission again this year to those attending.
"It's important for us to be able to take care of the Soldiers and Airmen, along with their families that are assigned here to Joint Base Langley-Eustis," Noland Said. "Offering free admission to this event just one of the ways we can do that."
The MWR office is currently looking for feedback and suggestions to improve next year's event. Those that wish to voice their opinion are asked to contact Sherri Noland at
