FORT EUSTIS, Va. –
Members of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command dedicated one of their conference rooms as the Freddie A. Teaford conference room during a ceremony Jan. 25 at Fort Eustis, Va.
The ceremony began with an invocation by Lt. Col. Louis Deltufo, TRADOC headquarters chaplain, followed by dedication remarks from long-time friend of Teaford, Al Resnick, director of Analysis and Integration Directorate, Army Capabilities Integration Center.
"He's one of those unique success stories," Resnick said. "He came in the Army after high school, became a warrant officer and worked his way to become a commissioned officer. As he did that, he also worked on his academic credentials. My hat's off to somebody like that."
Several members of Teaford's family attended the dedication ceremony, including his wife and two of his children.
The event ended with the floor opened to family and friends who reminisced on Teaford's contributions to his job and the impact he had in their lives before he passed away five years ago, due to cancer.
According to Jim Winters, Army Capabilities Integration Center senior intelligence advisor in the Mission Command Intelligence and Cyber Division, the room was renamed in Teaford's honor because of his many contributions to the Army and to TRADOC during his 24 years of active duty service, and 11 years as an Army civilian.
"In a real sense, Mr. Teaford's memorial will serve as a fitting remembrance for 'every man' who has served 'his' Army in war and then continued on to enhance the Army through peacetime civilian contributions," said Winters. "Mr. Teaford represents the epitome of the combat developer: experienced, knowledgeable, tireless, persistent, motivated and dedicated."
