Earth Day is celebrated April 22 annually, encouraging the international community to protect the Earth and preserve natural resources for future generations.
Fort Eustis has approximately 3,000 acres of tidal wetlands that serve as a habitat for wildlife and help filter pollutants before reaching the Chesapeake Bay. Almost 20 miles of shoreline provide habitat for migratory birds, fish, crabs and other aquatic wildlife.
"During this period of financial uncertainty, it's important to find ways to locally conserve our natural resources," said Arba Williamson of the 733rd CED Environmental Element. "Fort Eustis is committed to protecting our local environment by celebrating Earth Day with activities around the installation."
