JBLE celebrates Army's 243rd birthday

By Staff Sgt. Areca T. Bell 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

U.S. service members celebrated the Army’s 243rd birthday with a run and cake cutting ceremony, June 14, here.

Hundreds of service members from JBLE turned out to celebrate the historic event.

The Army was established June 14, 1775, more than a year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

After the Revolutionary War, the Continental Army transitioned into the U.S. Army in 1784, consisting of eight infantries and two artillery companies.
