JBLE AFRC temporarily relocating

By Jennifer Spradlin 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

The Airman and Family Readiness Center will temporarily relocate to the Langley Community Commons here beginning June 13 while renovations are underway at the Nealy Ave. location.

The center should be fully operational from the Commons by June 18. The AFRC hours of operation will remain the same: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

“Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience to our customers during the renovation while moving ahead with renovations that will streamline services for them,” said Luis Lynch, AFRC section chief.

The renovations include office space expansion and overall infrastructure improvement. Once completed, the center will absorb the Casualty and Survivor Benefits Program, creating a “one-stop-shop” for key services, Lynch said.

He said the renovations are estimated to take 140 days to complete.

“It’s a great step in a good direction for the center. These renovations will improve the work atmosphere for our employees, and create a more professional environment for our customers,” Lynch said.

The AFRC offers a wide array of services to the Total Force, including DoD civilians, as well as retirees, spouses and dependents. Some of those services are: skill-building to improve employment options, Exceptional Family Member Program resources and support, and access to emergency financial assistance via the Air Force Aid Society.
