JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. – –
The Crossbow Dining Facility is scheduled to close for
infrastructure repairs beginning Feb. 1, 2018 and is expected to reopen Aug. 1,
2018 at Langley Air Force Base, Va.
Affected Airmen and other meal card holders will receive
Basic Allowance for Subsistence entitlements throughout the duration of the
dining facilities renovations to help cover food costs. The pay increase will
begin the mid-month paycheck in February.
The renovations include adding all new appliances in the
kitchen to increase efficiency of serving Airmen in the DFAC. Another change
that will be completed is developing a new training area for the Airmen working
in the DFAC.
According to U.S. Air Force Capt. Christina Kane, 633d Force
Support Squadron sustainment services flight commander, the new training room will create a better
working environment for the team, include more computers, as well as make them
more proficient in their careers.
“Training is very important for all of our Airmen,” said Kane.
“We only have two computers for the 40 to 50 Airmen that work at the DFAC.”
During the six month closure, other food amenities will
still be open, such as the BX, Raptor Café, Golf Course and Bowling Center.
There will also be food trucks open at different hours and locations on base.
Airmen are able to contact their first sergeant if any
hardships are brought on by the dining facility closure.
